1. At Prestbury House we have an NAS Catergory Grade 1 Certification
2. Whilst we have tried very hard to think of most things that will help those visitors who have disabilities, injuries and the elderly, please remember that Prestbury House is over 300 years old and a Grade 2 Listed property. Dependant upon the nature of the guests requirement we always advise speaking to our Reservations Staff - communication is the key to a happy stay.
3. We have three ground floor en-suite bedrooms in the converted Coach House (two double and one twin) accessed by six steps with handrail or a purpose built brick ramp. The remaining Coach House bedrooms (5) are on the first floor accessed by one flight of stairs. The Coach House entrance has double doors and the twin bedroom is closest to the entrance. The building not occupied by any hotel staff at any time other than for servicing. The Coach House is 50 metres along a tarmac drive, with speed restrictors/bumps, to the main house entrance (see aerial photograph on the 'Hotel' page of this website). The disabled car parking space is adjacent to the Coach House entrance.
4. The Coach House twin en-suite bedroom is equipped with toilet/bath grab rail and tap extensions. The public disabled toilet is located in the gym in the Coach House.
5. The main front door to the Main House has a 1/4 inch lip. All function rooms, bar, restaurant (exception Training room on first floor) accessed either by flat Cotswold stone or wooden floors. There is a drop off/collection point at the front door.
6. The Main House has no ground floor bedrooms and no lift (Grade 2 restriction). One double en-suite bedroom is on the first floor accessed by one flight of stairs. The remaining bedrooms are, 5 on floor 2 (two flights of stairs from ground), and 2 on floor three (three flights of stairs from ground).
7. On check-in all guests are given a letter asking if there is any reason why they would be unable to hear the fire alarm, see a fire exit sign, would have difficulty in using a fire exit or have any specific dietary requirements or allergies. This information is treated in strictest confidence but is made known to the Duty Manager and Night Duty Manager. This information ensures that in an emergency these guests are given priority consideration. Please let reception have this letter completed as soon as possible after arrival.
8. There is always someone on hand for porterage, enquiries and assistance in an emergency. Please see the security notice and out of hours telephone numbers on the sheet given with your check-in paperwork.
9. All baths have non-slip mats.
10. All emergency signage is pictorial statutory green type.
11. Menus can be typed in large bold type or read aloud on request.
12. In the Main House the gentlemans toilet is on the ground floor (no steps) and the ladies toilet is on the ground floor up seven carpeted stairs with handrail. Prestbury House staff are quite prepared to 'stand guard' outside the gentlemans toilet should it be necessary for a lady to use these toilets and does not wish to use the Coach House disabled toilet.
13. All corridor lighting is left on throughout the night. All light bulbs are energy efficient throughout the hotel and take a little from switch on to reach their full effectiveness.
14. Rooms are serviced between 10.00hrs and 14.00hrs. Allergy free pillows are available on request.
15. We cater on prior request for special dietary requirements (vegetarian/vegan/gluton-free) but must be advised prior to arrival as well as allergies. Many of our food products contain nuts and nut extracts.
16. Prestbury House is totally non-smoking with the exception of the bar and the rear garden.
17. We accept assistance dogs by prior request provided they are exercised off the premises (we have farm rare breeds) and owners bring a dogs bed and are accommodated in the Coach House twin bedroom.
18. All Prestbury House staff have received instruction in disability awareness from the Proprietors who have first hand experience of this subject. The policy is that whilst we are a hotel that cannot offer purpose built facilities, we will try our best to accommodate any disability. However, no member of staff is trained as a care assistant.
Further information is available from S. Whitbourn - Proprietor.
